How can Superflora shakes help me achieve my weight loss goals?

 

How many calories?

With less than 200 calories per serve, Superflora shakes are a convenient way to get a healthy, low-calorie meal on the go. We recommend using our shakes as just one component of a healthy lifestyle that combines a gut-friendly diet and appropriate exercise. Before you start any weight loss diet, you should check in with your GP.

But why don’t we call our shakes a ‘meal replacement’? To meet the requirements for a formulated meal replacement as set out by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand [FSANZ] we would need to include added vitamins and minerals and we have deliberately not done so. We believe that all bodies are different and need different things to perform at their best. And it’s simply impossible to get your body’s individual vitamin and mineral needs met by one blanket standard so we’ve opted to leave this to you. If you want to boost your gut health and maximise your nutritional needs aim to eat 20+ plant based foods per week. 

How often should I have a shake and how do they fit into an overall weight loss plan?

We recommend replacing either breakfast or lunch with a Superflora shake.

To get results, use our shakes as part of a comprehensive diet and exercise plan. Talk to your GP or dietitian for advice.

Are the shakes filling?

Do you get hungry and hangry between meals? We’ve added protein (24.6g per serve) and fibre (7g per serve) and a little fat (4g) so your shake is satisfying and you feeler fuller for longer.

How should I prepare my shake?

For best results, blend 50g of Superflora shake with 250ml of chilled water and drink immediately. While we recommend using chilled water, you can add Superflora to your choice of milk for extra creaminess. You can also add frozen banana or berries for a fruity Superflora smoothie.

Do they contain artificial sweeteners?

No, no, no! Many artificial sweeteners, especially those containing polyols, sorbitol and mannitol) can trigger IBS symptoms causing cramping, bloating, flatulence and diarrhea. So we’ve avoided artificial sweeteners, colours, flavours and additives. Our shakes are sweetened naturally by maple syrup sugar.

How does fibre help with weight loss?

Did you know that most Aussies do not consume enough fibre? The World Health Organisation recommends 25-30 grams per day for adults. Superflora shakes contain 7 grams of fibre per serve.

How does this help with weight loss? High fibre foods tend to be more filling than low fibre foods, so you're likely to eat less and feel fuller for longer.  Fibre also lowers cholesterol levels. The soluble fibre found in flaxseeds, chia seeds, psyllium and PHGG in our shakes may help lower total blood cholesterol levels by lowering low-density lipoprotein or "bad” cholesterol levels. Studies have also shown that high fibre foods may have other heart-health benefits, such as reducing blood pressure and inflammation. And fibre also helps control blood sugar levels. In people with diabetes, fibre, particularly soluble fibre, can slow the absorption of sugar and help improve blood sugar levels.
